AN IRISH LAD TO THE DOWNS
Max Wilson's Equine Veterinary Services wish to announce the arrival of Branigan's Pride, the imported Registered Irish Draught Stallion to Queensland. The Irish Draught is noted for its versatility, temperament and trainability. Crossed with the Thoroughbred to produce the Irish Sport Horse, the breed has been responsible for some of the best showjumping horses in the world such as Cruising. These attributes have also been recognised by mounted police units to such an extent that in England, most police horses are Registered Irish Draughts. The breed is now very popular in the States for producing top performance horses in all the Olympic disciplines and for its sheer pleasure as a riding horse.
Branigan's Pride is owned by the Lamperd family in Victoria and has performed very successfully in both dressage and showjumping competitions. He has won the Australian Novice Dressage Championships and has competed successfully to Medium level. He is a B grade showjumper and has won numerous ridden stallion awards.
The South Australian Mounted Police have been using Branigan over the last four seasons as the major sire in their breeding programme due to the trainability of his progeny and also due to the added bonus that he always produces greys.
His progeny have been successful in ridden and halter classes at the Melbourne Royal for many years and he is the sire of this season's new Victorian eventer of the year - Branigan's Flying High and also Barastoc Tullamore - the 2001 National Showjumping Derby winner and a placegetter in the 2000 and 2001 Adelaide International 3 star Horse Trials.
