EQUIVET AUSTRAILA - SCHEDULED MEDICATIONS

All drugs are given a schedule by the Health Department. All steroids, antibiotics, anaesthetics, some anti-inflammatory and most poisons are in Schedule 4 or 8.

The Health Department by law prevents us from selling Schedule 8 drugs (eg. Pethidine, Dopamine and Anabolic Steroids) directly to the public and places heavy restrictions on the sale of Schedule 4 drugs to the public unless we have examined the animal they are intended to be used on.

The Health Department regulations are very specific and their powers are considerable. Any veterinarian convicted of contravening these regulations, stands to loose his registration and his rights to practise Veterinary Science.

I am sure you will agree that this is too high a price to ask any veterinarian to pay, so please do not ask us to disregard the regulations as our refusal may offend.
