Saddleworld 2011 Young Dressage Horse and Pony Championships

Thursday 4th Aug 2011

I just wanted to again sincerely thank Equivet Australia for your generous sponsorship of the State of Origin award at this event.

The winners of your award at each level were:

4yr old: Wunderflaunt by Kanandah Park Wunderkind

5 yr old: DiCavalli Dior by Donautraum

6 yr old: Sir Anton by Alabaster

They each received a cash prize of $100 courtesy of your generosity and a beautiful rosette which was made in the Queensland colours of maroon, gold and white with gold lettering on the tails detailing Equivet as sponsor and the award.

You may have heard that we had an unfortunate incident at the start of the day where a catering caravan adjacent to the indoor arena had a gas bottle explode within it and this then caused a serious fire. One of the poor catering ladies sustained serious burns and had to be taken to hospital. All of this happened at 7-30am in the morning just as we were getting ready to start the days competition at 8am. Some quick reorganisation resulted in the first round of the event being conducted on the outside arena at the showgrounds and after lunch the second round was shifted back in to the indoor arena. The presence of ambulance, fire engine and police in the morning was an unwanted distraction but I consider ourselves fortunate that this mishap did not occur whilst horses and riders were in the arena and nor was a more serious or fatal injury incurred.

I have attached a certificate of appreciation together with some photographs of presentations. As it was late in the afternoon the light for taking photos was not great.

There will be a report on the event in the next issue of Salute magazine.

Kind regards

Karen Crommelin

Queensland State Young Horse Convenor
